Back in 2010 I recorded a walkthrough of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and posted it with descriptions of the various parts of the Church. This Church commemorates the place of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Today there are much higher quality resources that allow you to walkthrough the Church of the Holy Sepulcher on your computer. A few of these are included below for you to check out.
History of the Church Building
The Church of the Holy Sepulcher was originally built by the Roman Emperor Constantine. It’s construction was completed in 335 AD. Since its construction the Church has been severely damaged numerous times, by people, earthquakes, and age. This video uses 3D models to step back through history, showing you the various floorplans and appearances of the building. The video actually goes back prior to the construction of the Church, and shows the shrines to Jupiter and Venus that were built on this site around 135 AD by Emperor Hadrian, when he recreated Jerusalem as Aelia Capitolina.
